I don't know if it is a good buy or not. But if I was considering buying this bike I probably would leave the fairing just as it is. I consider scrapes like that character marks. But then, I belong to the ADVRider group here online.

If that's all you find wrong with it, I'd take it.

You can buy some touch up paint and cover the scratches pretty easily. They'll still be there, but not as noticeable. I put reflective tape on mine and that's one area I covered. Not to cover up scratches, but because it was the best place for it. Add some black reflective tape (Streetglo) and you'll not only cover the scratches, but make yourself more visible.

How easy the scratches are to fix depends on how close to original you want them to look and how good your body working skills are  .

Of more concern is something I think I see in the picture. It looks like the alignment between the floor board, fairing and lower leg shield is off. That could indicate the brace the fairing bolts to is bent and might need straightening or even replacement. It's a couple of hundred bucks for that brace if you have to replace it.

I'm looking at a 2008 400 w/ 8,500 miles for $2,800 but it has damage to the ferring(?), see picture. Would this be an easy fix and a good buy?[attachment=0:2xaume9m]2008 black.jpg[/attachment:2xaume9m]
If you are on ADV site you may know me ? TheReaper!

Any way I would not only say no , I would say HELL no . It's a buyer's market , be patient grasshopper and you will find much better .
I would have to take a very good look at it , but from what I see I would pay no more than $1,200 for that .

Mine looked like that when I sold it with 46k+ miles. I still think it isn't a big deal offer $2000 & see what he counters with. I was asking $2,500 for mine & was offered $1,200 & sold it for $2,000. :)
