Hi, I got my Burgman April '12. I commute to work 4 days (ok, nights) a week, about 25 miles each way. I can not believe how much I love this bike. I had a smaller scooter when I was younger (in my 20s) and have ridden a handful of misc. motorcycles but hung that up when I became a mama. Well, now my kids are grown and I decided that for my 50th it was time to get back on a bike. I am so glad I found this used Burgman. I bought a 5-year-old bike with under 400 miles on it and have put over 2500 miles on it in the year and a half we've been together. His name is Roland --(Norway's Bravest Son)-- I'm sure some of you near my age can Warren Zevon singing now, right ^_^
So, question -- how do you describe your ride? If I know someone is going t see it, I say it's a scooter and love the look on their face when they see how impressive a "scooter" it is. However, when someone sees me in my gear carrying my helmet and ask what I ride, it seems anticlimactic when I call it a scooter and find myself following up with Roland's size, which feels odd as well -- Most people don't know what I mean when I say "that black Burgman in the parking lot."
Help -- Do you find yourself "excusing" your bike for being a "scooter"
Thanks
