Well then what makes you think cleaning the K&N any easier. You still have to wash it with solvent and then re-apply filter oil. The only difference I could tell was K&N sell a cleaning solution (emulsifier...special soap) designed to make this job hopfully less painful.
If you really want it easier, then find a replacement paper filter. Apparently, paper filters trap the small particles that are harmful to an engine far better than any oil based foam filter anyway.
