Took my first test ride on an 06 yesterday. At slow speeds it seemed a bit jumpy. Is that just me or is it something normal?

Just normal until you get use to the throttle. Need to roll into it slow at lower speeds. ;)

It might have been on power mode. In power mode the engine response and engine braking is much enhanced.Drive mode is twitchy also but not nearly as much as power mode.

Took me a while to get used to the throttle on my 06 Burgman 650, but now it's fine. I was used to my carbureted H-D which was MUCH less sensitive to throttle input. Had to refine my riding style.

Yep, the throttle is abrupt on my '09 650. I installed a throttle tamer, as MJR mentioned. It helped, but I still have to pay attention in certain cornering situations, like sharp switchbacks.
