In October, i Will have my Burgman 650 for two years. Right now it has 20,654 mile on it. On a toy run in Gastoina,NC it was rained on, snowed on, sleeted on, all in one day. I can not remember how many times, we rode home in the rain. But last Thursday top them all. It started off great, rode to Maggie Valley, went to Wheels thru Time. It is a self pace tour of motorcycles, thru history. More Harley's then anything thing else. We then went to the casino for lunch. Seen lots of bikes around but I had the only Burgman. We left there and went to Hendersonville, NC to look at Goldwings. The sky was getting darker and we had to leave before the storm. Riding the Burgman I could see the lighting, and feel the air cooling off. Right at the top of Black Mountain it started to rain, but I did not pull over where the trucks need to check their brakes. Nope I told the wife we will get to the bottom and stop. Gas light was blinking. So once again in the rain, but something far more painful was happening. HAIL it started and hurt like hell, but there is no place to pull off the road there, so on we went. Three miles of hail, hitting us, but we made down the road, battered. We filled the tank, sat at McDonald's while the storm past, and rode home in dry shirts, wet shorts. I know that I will never sell the Burgman, since the wife says I get to keep it with the new Goldwing that is coming, but I am guilty of putting thru all kinds of weather abuse. Next month we are going to the coast, the outer banks and into Virgina. The Goldwing will stay home, and the Burgman will do its last long trip, before becoming a local vehicle. Sometime soon I will post the story about being stuck in the sand with a Burgman.
