Coming down local scenic parkway, 35 mph limit, two lane, double yellow stripe the whole way, two weeks ago, woman (cell phone airhead) in a Lexus SUV comes blowing by the line of cars, had to be doing 15 over...
Hmmm.

Same parkway today, in a line of cars, up ahead I see a car coming at us all, completing a passing maneuver ON A DOUBLE YELLOW line once again, oblivious to anyone else on the road...

I talked to a local PD. Asked if I should bother getting license plate no. and make and model for PD. I can't afford a dash cam at the moment.
He said, NO, he has to witness the idiots before any enforcement can happen.

I guess there's no way to get these idiots off the road, until they crash into someone else

I'm just frustrated that's all, it's a lack of any consideration of others.

had a friend involved yesterday at 10 am in a cell phone auto mishap :evil: , my friends car totaled, she and her boyfriend not seriously injured , the other car no one injured at all, car totaled bent frame , 3 people in it, they were on the phone and pulled out in front of my friend , looked for on coming traffic in the wrong direction on a one way street before pulling out :roll:

It is a shame how dependant society has become on cell phones. I used to flash my lights at intersections or situations that I percevied a danger. I found the human brains perceived that as a challenge and usually made an agressive move after my warning. I then added another aux light to all my bikes. That helped a lot, but still didn't penetrate the dull fog of cell phone converstation.

The majority of the human brain is occupied by vision processing and preception. The only way to get destracted drivers attention is to poke them in the eye a little, to stand out. In about two years of testing alternating between low beam and high beam, I have conclusivly decided that HIGH beams freeze people and make them take notice. The Suzuki has superior high beam lights and during daylight it is amazing how different the riding experience is with high beams on vs. low beams. It did take me a while to rationalize the use of them, but I too have lost one to many friends to distracted dirvers.

As for LEO help, don't count on it. We have anti text and driving laws but people still do it. Be defensive, scan and evade.

When all else fails I have a mini hand-held blaster horn from the dollar store velcro'ed to the dash that will get their attention. :thumbup:

One of the instructors in the Motorcycle safety class I took said he Always uses his high beams during the day. It gets peoples attention and it saves your low beams for night when you really need them. I run mine all the time except at night in the city.

high beams during day here also and I bought/installed the screaming banshee horn ( 138 dbs!). I left original horn alone (which is a joke) so I now have that also. I bought a starter switch and did not wire in a relay.

they don't do much good for accident prevention except getting pets and children out of the street and they don't work for squirrels and deer (option3) and this may sound strange but I can hardly wait to get back out there ,
