Being semi-senile, I can't remember whether we did this topic before.

If we did, let me know, if not, let's go.

What did you ride/own on the way to the Burgman?

Me:

1966 Marusho 500 (Japanese BMW clone)
1969 Triumph Bonneville 650
1971 Yamaha DT1F 250
1972 Honda 350
1979 Suzuki 750
1982 Yamaha 650 Heritage
1982 Yamaha 920 Virago
1987 Yamaha Venture Royale
2001 Suzuki Bandit B6S
2003 Suzuki Burgman 650

I still have the Bandit. Enjoy both.

We dont need np stinkin bikes!!

I was giggin' six nights a week in a Disco band in 1977, about 19 yo, when my girl and I stumbled onto a honda 50cc scooter in my dads garage. Sandals, no helmet, no mc license, we got on....that was it..

Honda 50
honda 175
honda 400 4 cyl.
Yam 750 3 cyl Shaft dr. (Fond memories)
Suzy 1100 Tourer (remmember?)
HArley FXRS
HArley FXRT
HARLEY Ultra Classic FI
Kaw 1500 Nomad FI
Honda Shadow Ace tourer x2 ( I had two, long story)
A coupla Goldwings, a used 900 witha Vetter,a nd a latter 1992 1500 six.

The above was not in Chronalogical order. I may have left a few of the less memorable out....I think a very ratty BMW R1000 with a cracked frame I had for a coupla weeks.

I owned an electric inline scooter company, I have a bunch of high performance electrics I just sold.

And now, as soon as work permits, the BB will be going to my favorite destinations - the inn at the Mill Stream in Woodstock NY, and the Canadian Atlantic Provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Wow - you guys have a world of experience on bikes! I'v only had:

1991 Honda Shadow 750
2000 Aprilia SR50 DiTech
2000 Suzuki GSXR-600
2003 Suzuki AN650 Burgman

The Burgman is by far the best all around bike, but I do miss the GSXR sometimes :D

There seems to be a common thread here. We have a group of riders that came off of large touring, cruisers and sport touring bikes. We have those that started with small scooters and moved up and we have those that came off of crotch rockets.

It is the latter catagory that amazes me as to how the Burgman was chosen to replace a street racer.

Well, dang. I'm probably the youngest member on this forum (22) and I've had no prior experience with motorcycles and the like.

Oh well, everyone's a newbie once in their life, right?

Well:

1. 1994 RVF NC35 - best looking/sounding 400 ever produced
2. 2000 Aprilia SR125 - City of London commuter
3. 2001 Honda x11 - 143bhp at the rear tyre, Akrapovic twin pipes, HID front light, 33k kms over two years touring in tandem, - everything a naked musclebike should be, showroom condition
4. 2001 CPI Beak 100 - good looking Tokyo commuter
5. 1995 RVF RC45 - twin filler tank, HRC pipes, showroom condition
6. 2002 Honda NSS250 Forza (Reflex) - best & most fashionable way around the city, CBS/ABS means it's the best commuter, too.
7. 2002 Skywave 650 (Burgman 650) - sublime tandem touring bike

All still owned apart from the CPI Beak which I reluctantly sold to a colleague when I bought the Forza (Relfex) - to the dissappointment of the girlfriend.

how we got here

hey HALSHAK ! don't feel out of place just because you're a NFG. we all started There. In fact, be glad that there's motorcycle/scooter forums now to help out. and our toys now are light-years away from the old.
riding has never been better..good wheels, good roads, good company..

anyhow, i too started about your age, back in 1962 and never looked back. ridin' is one of the few CONSTANT and remaining pleasures of my life.

here's a list of my ex-toys: Lambretta TV 175, Gilera 125, Bridgestone 175, Bianchi 50, Lilac 250, Honda 450, MV Agusta 125, BMW R50/2, BMW
R69S, Suzuki 90, Suzuki 550, Kawasaki 100, Virago 750, GSXR 1100, Voyager XII, another Virago 750, and now, ZX-12R.. (a Burg 400 soon).

the MAXI-SCOOTER is probably the MOST SENSIBLE (notice i used the word sensible; if the parameter is-the most powerful, one's in the wrong forum) form of two-wheeled vehicle there is.
