Hey jskzes,
I've also got a 2008 , love the bike. In the "how to" section of the forum you'll find information on just about everything you need to fix, change or upgrade your scoot. micbergsma videos are a big help. I couldn't do half of the maintenance I do without them. When I hit the 7,500 mile mark I thought about having a dealer do it for me but...... the whole thing was a easier to do than I thought. (and saved a TON of dough) Just review as much as you can before you start. Below is a copy of my post that should encourage you. Have fun and don't be afraid to ask questions if you get stuck. WOW! I can't believe I got up the nerve to do all this myself today.
1, New NGK spark plug.
2, New air cleaner.
3, Mobil 1 oil change.
4, New oil filter & O rings
and....drum roll please,
5, Final drive oil change!
The final drive really gave me the willies before I even got into it. (at almost 60 I'm not as young as I once was) For all you guys who haven't given it a try, I say go for it! This was one of the most rewarding things I've done in a while. The whole thing start to finish took maybe two and a half hours. (and that's only because I kept taking short "youtube"
breaks to watch for what I should be doing next.) The best advice for removing the CVT case cover is to
screw the two bolts into the middle of the case as Mitch does in his video and tighten them just a little.
Then gently tap the cover all the way around with a rubber mallet and tighten the bolts just a little again and tap a
few more times. It came right off in less then a minute of tapping and tightening. I did remember to get a leaf blower and blow all the belt dust out of the belt area. Boy was I surprised. It looked like a dust storm for a few seconds.
Many thanks to Mitch for all his hard work on putting the how-to videos together for all of us to use.
and thanks to Chris (Daboo) for answering my questions from time to time. You guys and this forum
make me extra happy I got a Burgman. I'm having a ton of fun with it and it has now become my "other car"
