Yesterday I saw my first maxi-scoot on the highway. I've been looking at them for almost a year have owned mine for several weeks and not a one have I seen out driving, all the rest I saw were for sale. It was a honda helix but still. Do you all see them regularly?

It's the dead of summer out here in the desert 110+ on most days. I'm the only nut out riding on two wheels most days.

I see them around here several times a month. They are not nearly as common as the cruiser or sport bikes but they are around.

I see Burgmans, Silverwings, Reflexes, Majestys, and more on a weekly basis.
Of course I live By 2 major powersports dealers that cover all the major makers out there and a few custom bike shops too. It is about 48% sports bikes, 48% cruisers, and 4% other around here.

I see at least 1 or 2 every week.
but:
I have only seen one Burgman since I bought mine (1 month ago today)

Side note: I have an Amateur Radio in my car and I have talked to another Ham a couple of times lately - he rides a Burgman 400 and has a radio set up on it.

Saw one this AM I did not recognize it was fair size and very "boxy" looking.
(Lots of squared off corners on it).

Los-Angeles is a huge megalopolis, I see a few maxis on a daily basis.

the nice part is that I see a lot more people riding smaller scoots for around town commuting, especially ladies.
 Same here, I see a couple of them a day, either going the same way I'm traveling (West bound on the 10 freeway in the a.m.) or going the opposite way in the p.m. There is this one intrepid young woman that rides a sea green Vespa that I see once in a while. Most times she wear skirts and dresses and heels. Mighty interesting to say the least.

There's a B650 around my neighborhood (in addition to mine). I've seen it on the streets once in a while, and frequently hear it passing my house.

I see several maxi-scooters pretty much every week, but that's not quite fair since they're in the scooter clubs I ride with. :)

An employee of one of the diners I frequent, owns a SWing. There's a Piaggio BV500 in my school's MC parking lot from time to time.

On the whole, though, most of the scooters I see are non-maxi types -- faux-classic or generic Chinascoot.

I live in rural Missouri where there are probably 100K Harleys for every maxi scoot. Its a hoot to have an oncoming Harley rider start to wave at me only to stop midwave when he can't figure out what the **** I'm riding. All he knows is what it ain't. I wouldn't trade my 650 Burgie for a Harley at all. Already done the Harley thing and never again...

I probably see one or two a day on my daily commute into East London on my SH300. It's a bit tight beween the lanes for a maxi which is why I rarely use mine for commuting. Due to heavy thunderstorms I went by car the other day and while sitting in the regular traffic jam envying the bike riders zipping along between the lanes I couldn't help noticing that at least 70% of them were 125cc scooters.

Some places they do :D

Barcelona stands for Burgman - never knew there were so many varieties and I suppose it depends on what you want to call a maxi but the scoots outnumbered the motorcycles 20 to 1 and rivalled cars.
Christopher Columbus looking down on the better way to ride

the well dressed commuter....scooter skirt and all

every variation you can think of and a few you might not...

every street in every direction...

Felt right at home

In the GTA - there's a few about - strong scooter club as well tho most of the Burgman riders avoid it.

This is a very interesting question and some interesting answers.

Here in the Piedmont I see a few now and again but not near as many as i would have thought.

I have a theory that one reason we don't see many of them is that so many are for sale by owners and are parked someplace out of sight.

I doubt it - it's a growing segment which is why BMW is in it and there is a spread of models available.
It really depends on local bike culture and people's willingness to thumb their nose at SS and Hardly culture.

Not many here in Saint Augustine, in over two years I have had fewer than a half-dozen unique sightings. Lots of 50 to 150 cc scooters downtown around Flagler College--but very few 250+ cc and "maxi's".

We're "right up the street" from Daytona though, where cruisers are the rule...

There are at least two other Burgies in my neighborhood, and I do see a fair number on the roads here in the Triangle. Not a huge amount, but we are an exclusive market anyways... :D

The Barcelona pics are great - they remind me of being in Paris a few summers ago. Some intersections had more B125s than cars, all lane-splitting, at the front of the lights. You didn't want to jaywalk.
