Just got one couple days ago... Facts:
1. Started from a dead stop at red traffic light. I was first in line
2. Went uphill 2% on a bridge over railroad tract.
3. Distance 1,200 ft
4. All stock 2007 Burgman 400
4. A MC cop, yes a motorcycle cop, tagged me for 63 MPH ( speed limit 50 MPH zone ) and he told me when I was still uphill.
Is it possible ? I really want to fight this ticket.
Does someone know or where to look for info regarding the distance or how many seconds it takes for this scoot to go from 0 to 60 MPH.
Thanks
PS the irony was that I was on my way to an Auto Parts store to buy some electrical stuffs to install my Adaptiv Radar Detector !!!!

:lol:The Burgman 650 will do 0-60 in 8.3 seconds..... AND why do you need a radar detector on a Burgman 400 anyway.?????? You sound guilty already. 1/4 mile speed is a tad over 17 seconds........... ****!! pay the ticket and frame it for bragging rights!!

i'd recommend posting a description of the incident and the ticket in some clear laminate material down low in the windscreen with maybe a red and gold border and some flashing white Christmas lights

19-25 Seconds

Well, The Stock Set up should only take 19-25 Seconds to reach 60 MPH
the original specs were 10.5 secs

Thanks,
That's what I need to know. I should be more careful.
My wife said that I am ugly, maybe that's why cops were after me.
That the second ticket in 3 months, the first one also by a MC cop (not a moving violation ) when I had front wheel into crosswalk to position scoot right on top of sensor.

O could ever say that those Sensors work!! Most of the time i just run them!! I lost 1 Magnet a few months ago i was riding in a wind storm i guess i ran down a three Branch ,So now i only have One Magnet and it dont do much of nothing, I see Motorcycles move faster then we do , So not sure why your getting tickets, Your on a scooter not a motorcycle, your Cops are just looking for Quota's.

btpham919,

Sorry about your tickets. Where are you from? I would like to know so that I can avoid your town or make sure I am very careful there.

Should have looked down at how fast you were going should have showed about 70 mph. Pay the ticket.

Show up to court and ask them to turn your ticket into a fine rather than a moving violation. This way your insurance rates don't go up.

Municipalities just want your money and their streets safe (but not too safe that they can't write tickets!).

I did this in PA and was threatened with contempt for bribing the court :(
I'm pretty sure the DJ was drunk or just coming off a bender because his behavior was very bizarre, but still, I wont ever do that again if were ever to get a ticket again.

Interesting. They've always offer this to me - I've never asked for this.

The public defender usually talks to the officer and comes back to me and says some legal gobeldygook and when it's my turn I say "yes, your honor" several times. Pay my fine and my insurance never hears about the ticket because it wasn't a moving violation in the end.

This was over 20 years ago when I actually got speeding tickets. Things might have changed.

Apparently in at least 1 state if you get a speeding ticket you can change it to some sort of "bad device" (i.e. your speedo was broken/off) which turns it from a moving violation to not.

Anyway. If you weren't really speeding then I'd seriously plead the case in court. It's one thing if you got caught doing something wrong and today was your day but it's another if you really were within the law.

Muchachos !
Thanks for all the inputs.
I live in Lake Forest / Orange County /Southern California. It was on El Toro Rd
This is my first moving violation for years, so I can choose to go to traffic school or take it on line and it won't show any point on my record.
This just make me a little paranoid.
To fight a ticket here in California will cost you 2 days : first day just to plead guilty or not guilty, if pleaded not guilty they will set a court date where you can argue with the cop in front of the judge. If you are lucky cop won't show up and case dismissed. But I heard they will cuz the get paid to go to court.
Oh well ! I think I will fight for 2 reasons, first I have time ( retired/retarded ), second maybe I can make a case for responsible motorcyclist/scooter riders.
If you live in Orange County, you probably know........ on El Toro Rd, there is a bar called " Cook's Corner " lot of motorcyclist go there, get drunk, and most of them ride very fast on those noisy "--" . I live here 30 years and never seen cop pulled them over. For me, writing a speeding ticket to a scooter is too low.
