I have just puchased a 2009 Burgman 650 after many years of riding big touring bikes, the big BMW, the yamaha venture Royal, aspencades, and Harleys.....My first ride on my Burgman was a 350 mile ride to get it home from Dallas. I am still amazed at how comfortable the ride was, and how smooth of a ride it was. Highly compares to all the other big bikes I have ridden, and has plenty of power for what I now need and ride for at 67 years old. Am looking for a rear trunk for it, or side bags if anyone can recommend them. This Burgman had only 4000 miles on it and is pristine condition. was owned by the mayor. am loving this scooter, and is so much more scooter than my little 250 jonway was, that I gave to my son in Nebraska. Am keeping this one for me! :) Planning on making several long trips on it, also. What kind of average mileage can I expect. I was hitting about 48mpg on my trip from Dallas at 70-75mph. Love this Burgman!

Welcome Steve...
your gas mileage is about average for a 650.
For help on saddlebags or a trunk ( top-box )
check the HowTo thread on this site.
A Givi or a Shad seem to be
real popular.

Of course just being from Texas does not mean we live near each other  Welcome.
In my road atlas, it is only about a inch & a half from Dallas to Austin...

Actually, Dalhart, Texas is closer to Bismarck, North Dakota,
than it is to Brownsville, Texas. Only a couple of miles
difference, but it is closer.
And from Texarkana,Texas to El Paso, Texas is a bit over
800 miles from East to West.
On the last Saturday of each month, the folks from
TwoWheelTexans have a Pie Run....an excuse to take
a ride & have some pie...many riders travel 150/200
miles EACH WAY...for a piece of pie.
And...it's not uncommon to have 100 riders turn out.
I made the trip from the Waco area to Sealy, TX...west
of Houston...I logged 176 miles each way. Good pie, too.
