I just joined and thought I'd say hello to everyone. Your site has given me a lot of information and has helped inform me about "scooters". I currently plan to get a blue '05 Burgman 650 this spring. Mainly because of three reasons ...
1. I don't like the Silverwing colors this year for '05
2. I do like the "Digital" read out dash on the Burgman 650
3. I will like the overdrive feature for '05. (If it turns out to be true.)

I have been looking at the Silverwing for almost two years. I found your Web site looking for a forums site with Silverwing information. Google taged a posting ... now here I am. Thanks Google! Your site opened my eyes to the Burgman 650. I have been reading your site for almost a year now, almost on a daily basis. I thought it was about time to join and donate to the site.... to give back a little for all the wealth of information I've received here.

Welcome to the Forum Ghost Rider! :hello2:

Wow, it's amazing how many people monitor this site and have never stop to say "Hi" before.

Come on people, we'd love to hear from you (even if you don't have a Burgman).

Don't be shy - this is wonderful, caring family of people who love motorcycles! 8)

We promise to be gentle with you! :D

Welcome . My self I like the digital dash, i have no trouble seeing it in bright sunlight, maby some of them may not be as bright as others, may be a problem with them
I don't think that the issue is some displays being brighter than others. I am very tall, so I am farther away from the dash, and more importantly, my angle of viewing it is different. LCD displays are best when viewed straight on, and my height prevents that. Another factor is that some of us have older eyes than other's, and subtle changes in night vision, and possibly the ability to see LCD displays, can occur with age. In bright sunlight I can barely distinguish the speedometer (very big numerals too), and the rest of the display, particularly the tach, is totally useless. I do way better with the conventional needle type speedo and tach on my V-Strom, but I have similar difficulty with the gas gauge and temp gauge on the V-Strom (which are LCD).

Eric last year I got a 650 and loved it, but not the didital display. becouse of hitting a dog I now own a 400 and will miss the engin braking , and the power I know that if you get one that you will realy like it, I see that you only live about 50 or 60 miles away maybe when you get a burgman we can go for a ride i live in Mt. Eden Ky. Good luck on getting your Burgman Dewight

Greetings Eric and welcome to the forum. Good luck in chasing down your 650. Let us know your impressions of the machine and how the overdrive works out. Keep gas mileage records so we can compare to the older 650's.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

I will post updates on my purchase progress and will also post information about it once obtained.

I do hope I can ride with some of you that are close to me from time to time. It will be nice to meet some of you. I am new to riding. I took the MSF in Sept. '04 and got my endorsement. We had more women in the class than men and at age 35 I was on the younger side of the class too.

My Dad won a motorcycle last fall from a local dealer ( http://www.sspowersports.com ) and traded it for a '04 Silverwing and he really loves it. He had been riding a Reflex 250 and now has it for sale. He is going to take a week long trip up to Canada this summer. I plan to go too providing I can get the burgman 650 and have it broke in by then. I don't think that will be a problem but you never know how things will turn out... I would like to put a new wind shield on as well as a hard case in back for more storage before taking the trip too.

Well, thanks again for the warm welcome.... Thought I'd throw in some more personal info while I was at it. :D

Eric,

Tell Dad about the BurgmanUSA forums as we'd be happy to have him here too. He could also list his reflex in the Classifieds forum. Sometimees we have people that are looking for a smaller used bike.

Hey Eric!
Welcome to the forum. Looks like you are not the only one near me that wants a blue '05. If you do get yours, and I get mine, let me know and maybe we could hook up and go for a ride sometime. I'm only 15 minutes from New Albany anyways.

I like the analog dash better also and I am only 5ft 10in. and sometimes I have trouble seeing the clock and odometer on the 400
I think it's a shame they don't make a 650 with an analog dash :)
