I am going to put a heating pad in my new seat. Not sure where to start.

Who has a heated seat and are they too hot?

I see some of them get up to 140 farenheit.

What about the European models that come with the heated seats?

Cary, the Canadian model also gets the option of heated seats and grips. I am thinking our wiring harness have the plugs so you would just need to buy a heated seat and controller from one of our northern neighbors.

Cary builds his own seats...good ones too.

He just never had a heat-pad option before.
He's willing to cook his own buns, as an
experiment.

Cozy Winters makes a pad that you install under the seat cover. It's easy to install. I've used these on two Burgman 650s with a simple on-off switch supplied with the kit. Never gets too hot, but you can turn it off if the need for heat isn't so great.

Take the seat off. You simply undo the driver's section of the seat cover by removing the staples on the underside. Install the heated pad and a foam pad on top. Pull the cover back down and re-staple it with short staples -- you'll need a good stapler, electric one works best. I had installed a switched fuse block for this and other additions.

That may not be entirely correct, there are at least three different wiring harnesses listed for the N. American market alone.
E-03 USA(except Cal.)
E-28 Canada
E-33 California USA (only)
And that doesn't take into account Exec and non Exec. differences.

Remember a while back when a member had shorted out his harness and the trouble he had in getting the right one?

Maybe I can rephrase the question.

How hot do the seats get? Some of them sounded like a literal bun burning.

Do you have to put foam on top and then the vinyl?

I have Sean for the wiring as I would burn the house down.
