Last year when I did an overnight ride in torrential rain for the whole trip, the heated grips on my Exec failed. However the next day the grips came on intermittently and then the second day worked perfectly. I assumed it was water ingress into the control box. Two weeks ago I rode down to Portsmouth (UK) to catch the ferry for Spain; again the whole trip down was in torrential rain, but the grips stayed working. When I got off the ferry, 24 hours later, the grips worked intermittently, but later on that day didnt work at all and still don't apart from a slight glimmer from the leds on the control box which immediately go out when the on button is pressed.
Has anyone taken the control box apart and if so is it an easy ' just prize' the lid off? Fuses are all ok.
