Happy 4th from a Brit is sorta like a Merry Christmas from a Rabbi , but it’s the thought that counts 🤣.

I’ll wish you an early Happy

The Fifth of November

Remember, remember!
The fifth of November,
The Gunpowder treason and plot;
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!
Guy Fawkes and his companions
Did the scheme contrive,
To blow the King and Parliament
All up alive.
Threescore barrels, laid below,
To prove old England's overthrow.
But, by God's providence, him they catch,
With a dark lantern, lighting a match!
A stick and a stake
For King James's sake!
If you won't give me one,
I'll take two,
The better for me,
And the worse for you.
A rope, a rope, to hang the Pope,
A penn'orth of cheese to choke him,
A pint of beer to wash it down,
And a jolly good fire to burn him.
Holloa, boys! holloa, boys! make the bells ring!
Holloa, boys! holloa boys! God save the King!
Hip, hip, hooor-r-r-ray!

Yeah, we had to start sending our convicts to Australia instead after 1776 :)
5 months each way, Jolly inconvenient old chap!

Have a good one guys, hopefully next year will be back to normal celebrations.

(Forgot about Bonfire night @DarisPakar, that won’t be the same this year, maybe a few fireworks)

Our French Bulldog is not the least bit pleased by the fireworks.
He's not scared though -- he's outraged. And he's making sure everyone knows it!

The cat doesn't seem to mind.

Personally, as long as they don't start another fire around here, I don't mind.
Except for the dog going nuts, that's not fun.

Everyone be safe out there.

While I do agree we should recognise and celebrate the reason for special days, I do not understand the blowing stuff up aspect, making useless noise is only appropriate in one situation imho, (and if you don't understand, you ain't doin it right). I dunno about others but the U.S.A. also has a tradition of overindulging in food and beverages on special days (and most other days too) I do wonder how many explanations of the political consequences of the day were discussed-explained to our younger generations, and if a single copy of that famous documrnt was dragged out and read/examined.
P.s. Thank you England for giving us the bedrock to build on , and the Magna Carta Libertatum, We are young and still trying to figure things out.
