I'm new to the board. Just bought a new burgman 650 executive, 2013, yesterday. Haven't rode it yet, unfortunately, as I am having heated grips installed. Should be picking it up on Thursday. I'm quite excited. I had a 2007 reflex, and am absolutely in love with it. Served my needs fine. However, when I started riding 2-up, I needed a bit more power when merging on the interstate. Thanks to you all, I decided on the Bergman 650. My only hesitation was the gas mileage, but I saw in several threads my mileage shouldn't be too bad if I don't ride like a bat out of hell, which I typically do not.
Got my motorcycle license in August 2012, bought my reflex in November. So, I haven't been riding long. I ride with my brother, who has a motorcycle, Kawasaki Vulcan 900, 2011. Despite this fact, I still let him ride with me!
I'm 39, live in NC, and my wife feels MUCH more comfortable on the Bergman. I am slightly dissapointed about losing my Bestem top box for storage purposes, but my wife will feel more comfortable with the 650 back rest. Thanks for having me on!

saldutti, welcome to the forum. Thank you for taking the time to introduce your self, allot of people just jump in and ask for help before ever introducing themselves. You can get side-bags and even a top-box for your new steed if you like.
I'm sure you will enjoy the power and size upgrade to your new Burgman. Did you keep your Reflex or get rid of it to get your Burger? The Reflex is a fine, reliable scooter but it is a little under-powered for two-up riding although it is nice to have for around town or as a backup. Oh by the way you may like to put your location in your profile it helps with the answers you get when you need help.

Seeing how the Suzuki website still has the price of a 2013 650 as "TBA", what did the dealer give you as a MSRP?

And, if it's not too personal, what kind of a deal were you able to negotiate?

Congrats on the new Scoot, and welcome to the forum. You CAN have your cake and eat it, too. Besteem and Givi both make top boxes with available back rests. It would give your wife the support she wants, and you the extra trunk space.

I would be thinking this a new unused 2012 year model rather than the much awaited and revised 2013 model.

Congratulations either way and welcome to the forum :hello2:

Would you mind updating your profile to show your location, this would be ever so helpful? :)

Hopefully, you all don't mind I quote the responses. I'm trading in the reflex for the final deal tomorrow afternoon. Been toying with the idea of keeping it for the gas mileage for just riding back and forth to work. Any advice is welcome (please). I paid 3500 for it, getting 2,000 on the trade in. Got it at the same dealer in November of 2012. Thanks for the advice of putting my locale in my profile, just did it. Lastly, thanks for the response.

Oh, and I didn't realize you can get side bags and a trunk with the passenger back rest. Thanks for the heads up and warm welcome!

Thanks Zach attack! (School of rock, a compliment). I didn't realize you could add a top box with a passenger back rest. That's great info. And indeed, this site has been fantastic and kudos to the moderators, developers, and contributors. Indeed, I think I'll love the new scoot as well!

Hey Lloyd. Thanks for the response! Not too personal at all. I'm sealing the deal tomorrow. I know it is a 2013 because the dealer price tag says "2013"
That being said you bring up an excellent point. Earlier today, I was wondering if my drive chain was being yanked, and am going to ask them to confirm that tomorrow (any ideas how that's confirmed?). Lastly, the sticker price is 9989.00. I have zero intention of paying sticker price, however (providing it is indeed a 2013).

I wouldn't mind at all and already have. Thanks for the suggestion! And lol on the possibility of it being a 2012. That thought crossed my mind earlier today. I'll post a pic of it when I figure out how! And if it's a 2012, the deal is off. Thanks for the heads up.

It is simple to tell if it is a 2013, the 2012 had a digital gauge cluster and the 2013 is analog

Wooooooooooow! Wow! Yet again another kudos to this site. Indeed, the model I was looking at had a digital dash and the parking brake is to the far right ( after reading ya'lls responses, I looked closer, and the 2013 parking brake is on the drivers side. I'll get a picture of the price tag so ya'll know I wasn't blowing smoke (tomorrow) and the deal will be off. Wow, knowledge is power.

Well, I thought it was a 2013, I took a picture of the price tag so you all wouldn't think I was blowing smoke. Turns out it was a 2012. They gave me a big discount for the mistake, though.
Sounds like a bait and switch. Is that a guy bent over on their label?
