These tests were done over 15 mile straight road, tires at 35 psi! 2007 400 with Shinko tires.... All tests were held for at least 30 seconds with cruise lock on and a constant rpm!
Below 4000rpm speedo is required.

4500 rpm 45mph
5000 rpm 50mph
5500 rpm. 55mph
6000 rpm 60mph
7000 rpm 70 mph
8000 rpm 80 mph
8500 rpm 85 mph
Top speed average 85mph with givi screen
Each dash mark on the rpm counter represents 2mph. Example: between 5000 rpm and 6000 are 5 marks... These also measured very accurate: 5200rpm was 52mph!

I hit 92 per my gps last weekend on the 400. Been up to 94 downhill and I've no problem getting to 90 regularly. However...

I kept the stock screen. Every one complains about it, but it is rather "swoopy", good for a few extra mph & mpg.

Yes.... I lost about 5 mph top and and I've lost about 5 miles per gallon, however the wind has picked up tremendously since September. She did hit nine grand yesterday at 90 mph gps on the flat interstate. Of course I was in the redline.

I did the dt266 Windscreen, the wind is ferocious out here on the plaines and I was getting a headache from the helmet buffeting. I already know from previous experience that I'd lose some MPG's and top end , But the comfort level is up!

I find myself using the RPM counter for speed now, as I know that 6000 RPM is 60 mph blah blah blah, very convenient numbers, just drop the two zeros! Lol doesn't work while accelerating or de accelerating.

Using the ratios in the 650 service manual spec section, and the diameter of the stock rear tire given by Bridgestone, I created an Excel sheet to calculate engine RPM versus indicated and actual speed. Something isn't computing correctly, for example at 70mph indicated (63mph actual), I calculate RPM should be 3800 but on the road it's well over 4000. Either Suzuki's numbers are wrong or the CVT doesn't go all the way to maximum "overdrive" (0.465:1). That was on a slight downhill run also.

3800 sounds low even for a 650, try it again, With a slight wind load on a even ground. I would rely more on Gps than ratio spec calculations. Please let us know, It's an interesting topic

Sorry I'm off topic. I don't care about speedo calibration, I know it's 10% fast.
