I need to replace the flip-up lid on one of the storage compartments (it's the one whose back is also the cover for the battery). Parts are underway from ronayers.com. Presumably the enclosing panel needs to be removed. Has anyone out there ever had the item off for any reason? And if so, any special hints? I hate to start simply loosening every screw I encounter...

Hi James - is it the big main compartment lid below the ignition key, or one of the flip up lids higher up on each side?

Right-hand flip-up lid. The former owner apparently had a soft drink can stuffed in there, which put the lid in harm's way when he made a sharp turn. I'm left with a stub on a hinge above a bothersome opening.
