Has anybody ever had to get a replacement coded key for the SAIS system ?
The bike I have just got has only one key.
I would like to get another if possible in case of loss.
The only info I have is the bike details Vin no. Reg No. etc
Any info on how to proceed etc

Your local dealer should sort this on your behalf.

It is tricky anyway as they will have to reprogramme or 'recognise and match' the transponder. But the magnetic shutter aspects will probably defeat them.

Have you not got a record of the key number?

Replacement key

I wish I could remember but I can't. Sigh. There was a lengthy discussion about getting replacement keys. You can, indeed, get blanks that anyone can cut. You can also get the special ones with the magnets which operate the slider to close the ignition. It's an easy thing to do. I did it and if I can, anyone can.

I'd suggest doing a search here. Something is bound to show up. I'm just having a CRS day.

In Europe they sale the bikes with an S.A.I.S. It stands for Suzuki Advanced Immobilizer System. The key has a chip in it that like many cars and can only be started with the correct key and not a copy. So if he only has one and it is the one w/o the key identifier tag on it then he has a big problem.

I remember reading somewhere on how to program a new key with a S.A.I.S chip. You have to have a key that is programed and you have to have a programmable key. I can't remember where I saw it, if I can think where to search for it I will. Please do not hold your breath. But I do know it can be done.
