After riding my '04 Burgman 650 for an hour yesterdayand parking it back in the garage, I can smell gasoline. It smells like it is coming from the area under the front of my seat or cover plate. Is this normal? Do any of you experience this as well? Thanks.

Did you happen to fill the tank before you parked it? If so it may be the gas expanding and coming out the over flow hose that runs down the left side and exits at the bottom near the transmission plug.

I have experienced the above but only once when I figured out what I did. I have not noticed anything other than that 1 time.

Do a careful check for any signs of a leak, with both the engine on and off , use a mirror to look up under the bike. If all is well let it go as one of those things .
But keep half an eye (or nose) on it anyway.

I do sometimes get a bit of gasolene odor in the trunk when I'm parked in the garage. I don't smell it unless I raise the seat to open the trunk. It generally happens in the Summer - and no, it doesn't matter if I just filled up the scooter or not. It could be air pressure venting from the tank. I've never torn things apart to investigate. There is no evidence of a gas leak. I think you would not notice it if you parked outside because any breeze would cause it to dissipate quickly.

Hondaman, we had a similar problem when we first bought Angel's scooter in 03. When we would gas up could smell gas and also have gas leaking when praked on the sidestand. Turned out tha the sending unit on top of the tank was craked. Dealer replaced and no problems since.
