Yes, I thought it might be indirect because of the relatively lower fuel pressure and a better air/petrol mix than the directy method. Thanks for the info.Buffalo said:It injects into the manifold.

My car has direct injection and it works better than indirect injection. Direct injection is a relatively new thing for gasoline engines (diesels have had it for years) and it is just now becoming more widely used in cars. It provides better economy and better power.peelbrow said:Yes, I thought it might be indirect because of the relatively lower fuel pressure and a better air/petrol mix than the directy method. There are three types of fuel injection for IC engines:
Gas Direct Injection (GDI)
Throttle Body (one injector) (slightly better than a carburetor)
Manifold (multi-injector)
and as mentioned, diesels do direct injection but they are diesels.
Must be the sedan (3.8L or 5.0L) because the coupe doesn't offer GDI until 2013 and only on the 3.8L.QuantumRift said:I have a 2012 Genesis that has GDI and it gets very good mileage.

Yes high pressure side is 725.2 psi to 1,740.5 psi and that's because the fuel is usually injected just before it's ignited. Years ago when I was talking with a Chrysler engineer and they were using direct injection on some two stroke engines they were playing with he told me with GDI the precision of the fuel injection event was 2* of the crank revolution, impressive. Also on a note the high side fuel pressures are sufficent to cut through the skin and can kill.
Fuel Pressure
Low Pressure Fuel Line
480 ~ 520 kPa (4.9 ~ 5.3 kgf/cm², 69.6 ~ 75.4 psi)
High Pressure Fuel Line
5.0 ~ 12.0 MPa (51.0 ~ 122.4 kgf/cm², 725.2 ~ 1740.5 psi)
