Wanted to extend the range for my (nearly) cross-county tour. This is the rig I came up with to mount the 1.5 gallon fuel cell. Added plus that I will only need to mount it for times when my saddlebags are not enough.

Anybody else put these things on a Burgy before?

Nice job, but I also have concerns about the weight hanging off that angle iron.

I personally just use either a 5 litre or 10 litre old oil drum sitting on my passenger seat strapped to my topbox, supplemented by a couple of old 1.5 litre plastic soda bottles under the seat. I do a lot of offroad riding on my Burgmen (washboard) and I find that having the weight of the fuel on the back regularly snaps subframes and topbox brackets if it is sitting that far back.

I don't find that I need the extra fuel. I find I need to take a rest stop to go to the restroom and/or get something to drink (I make myself drink something every time I stop) before I need gas. I fill up my tank when I stop. You should never pass up an opportunity to fill up or pee.
