Here is my solution to the stupid OM method of checking oil on the 400 (bike on its wheels).
The sight glass is thus not visible to you, while you are balancing the bike. :confused2:
This subject was hashed over on the 400-2007+ section.

I used some 2x4 and scraps of plywood. The bike stood upright solely on the base 2x4s, before I added the verticals! Spacing for the "Hoop" was 4-9/16 inch.
Between making something myself, and a trip to Harbor Freight, I chose this.
It slides on the floor when you try to pull the bike out of it, but some squishy rubber mat will cure that.

I don't know if other models have the same oil checking ritual as the 400.

Mike that looks splendid! As long as the front wheel is on the ground you cannot go wrong. And yes, all current and many Suzuki's from years ago use the same on the wheels method to check the oil. It's pretty much across the bike spectrum now with the majority using "on the wheels" for the final level check. That includes my GSX1400 and my DL1000GT which are very very heavy bikes.
