Front Wheel Bearings (2007) - Important!

Hey All, I just changed out my wheels bearings on a whim of an idea to do so, and found that they were in really bad shape. My Burgie has 23,000 miles on it and I was noticing a little front wheel shimmy as it decelerated. I read about the poor bearings (only sealed on one side) Suzuki used OEM. I used All-Balls Racing bearings to replace them. When I got the old ones out, the bearing grease was gritty and black. They grinned as I manually rotated them. I was shocked.

My gas mileage has gone up 3-5mpg and the ride is so much better, esp turning.
If you have an 07 and haven't changed them out yet, I highly recommend doing asap. I am pretty sure the bearings were bad way back in the early mileage.

Hope that helps!

Thats one more thing I have had to do to me 400 that I forgot i did. Its been a year or 2 since I changed them, but believe I just went to a local bearing shop with the dimensions i needed and they hooked me up.

Can't remember why I changed them though. Think it was the shimmy that macburg described. Although changing them didn't fix it until I changed my 'scalloped' front tire. Might of been a combination of the 2 that caused it. But can say that i haven't had any scalloping/cupping issues on my front tire since i changed those bearings. Been getting fairly even wear.
Since I didn't have all the 'proper' tools, I improvised, i found a socket that was the right size to contact the outside ring of the bearing, attached extension, and beat it out. Same process to put it in. The key is to not hit it on the inside ring, of the race of bearings themselves.
