Hi everyone, I just bought a 2008 400, and am trying to educate myself on the workings of items, so bear with me if these seems like stupid questions!

I think I want to change the butted out for the Izuzu headrest, but I'm having trouble trying to get the pad out. I press the release lever and the pad slides forward but will not come completely out, what I'm I missing here?

Also, I think I want to cut down a stock windshield for summer use, is it really difficult to swap out screens? I see where people have warned about losing screws down into the bodywork.

Time to start searching the classifieds and junk yards for windshield and headrests.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome and congrats!
Their are 2 phillips screws that must be removed to get the seat all the way out.
They are located under the seat and accessed through small holes.
I believe their are some pictures in the 400 sections of this forum if you care to search.

The phillips screws that need to be removed, are installed
at the ends of the adjustment rods...one on each rod.
They are often stripped, so there may be some mumbling
along with sweating, to get them removed.

welcome Jerry,

i changed out a screen with a broken shoulder blade and collar bone and 2 broken ribs, oh yeah and a few tools:D just follow the tutorial, and save the liquid refreshments for after while the wifey is singing praises of your manly motorcycle machinations,
 and you will be fine

Thanks for your help, I got the screws out no problem, now to start the search for the headrest.

I'm going to install a rear rack/topbox and found one of the screws that holds the rear panel on the head is stripped out.....let the games begin trying to get that out!

Get a Givi Airflow windshield. It is a huge improvement over the stock. It doesn't suffer the buffeting the stock one does, is adjustable and (the height is adjusted or the top completely removed in about 5 seconds) and, it provides hand protection. Removing the top portion il like having a cut down shield.
