Drove 14 hours round trip (with a trailer) just to pick up new to me an 08 Burgman 400 with 1800 miles on it. My partner (she drives her own 01 Reflex) and I rode just short of 80 miles this morning and I got to say I had the Burgman smile the whole time. After riding my own Reflex for 2 years the power of the FI 400 is amazing. She goes on command. A very solid scooter. Front end feels a little heavy but I'm sure I just need to get use to it. Oh yea, the brakes are wonderful. To stop the Reflex I would need to use both brakes, the Burgman just the rear will do most of the time and if I need to stop those duels up front brings it down in a hurry. My only complaint so far is the **** tires are already cupping. The **** Bridgestones did the same thing on our Reflexes but they weren't this bad until at least 6000 miles. We switched to the duel compound Michelins and they are wearing just fine so far, about 2000 miles. Another happy rider here. Now we have to get another one for the little lady. Thanks guys for the great advice. Tom

Tire wear is a big factor on these Burgmans. I'd guess most guys are only getting 6000, to 7000 miles out of a rear tire. :(
Congratulations on the new Burg, makes me smile just thinking about the 'Burgman grin'.

I found only the front tires would cup. Air pressure change & miles will fix it if not too bad.

I run the same pressures.........changed both (switched to Michelin City Grips) at 14K.
Would love to report great mileage on these, but am on my third rear this year due to punctures!!!!
One I only got about 500 miles on. When most recently swapped the rear, the front looks about the same age, with 3000miles on it.

Much seems to depend on where you live and the material the roads are made of.

I routinely get around 15000 from my rear tire, and that is over 75000 miles. The 650s get far less, and 400 owners in places like Florida also get far less mileage.

I agree with Chris......... I have family that lives in Florida and was told that the paved roads have ground-up sea shells in the mix....!!!! And even car tires do not last as long...! If that is true - I would think that road surface would be very abrasive.

My 08 had 9,600 miles on it when I got it and the 2nd rear tire was almost worn out and I replaced it after about 1,000 miles. The replacement tire has about 3,000 miles on it and it will last a couple more if I am lucky. I replaced the OEM front tire at 10,553 miles. It had some miles left but it was badly cupped. We don't have any straight roads around here and we ride the mountains pretty briskly.
