Local dealer has a 2009 AN 400 with 1900 miles for $6K. Or new2013 out the door for list ($8K). What's your opinion?
THIS JUST MY OPINION ONLY: I got a brand new 2008 in 2010 for $5,800 and that was the dealer cost!!! He showed me the factory invoice.. Keep looking......

I think you can do better. For example, there's currently a white '11 400 with ABS and only 1720 miles in St. Louis, Missouri (Perhaps a do-able distance for you to pick up?) with a Buy It Now price of $5150 from an individual.

I got my '09 with 185 miles on it 17 months ago for $3300. While that was an exceptional deal, it just goes to show they can be found.

These things seem to be so reliable, for a good price I'd feel pretty confident spending a couple hundred bucks on one way airfare to anywhere within a couple days ride for just about any later model 400 with less than 5000 miles, as long as it has no or only minor plastic damage. You'd enjoy the trip back!

Kelly Blue Book is $3675 Retail and $2720 Trade in Value. If you pay that dealers price which is no where close to a good deal for you, you would be somewhere around $3200 upside down if you wanted trade it in the next day. Spend some time finding out the value of these scooters before just gong to a dealer an excepting there price, know what the values of what you are buying. You did the right thing by asking here, we all want you to get the best buy for your dollar. I can tell you that most dealers want nice trade-in's, that's where all the money is made for the dealership. Work Craigslist, there are good and bad deals all the time, but here you will learn values of bikes, if they are on there for a long time, there either junk or too high priced.

I wouldn't consider either one because of the price. The 09 is way overpriced and the new one will depreciate very quickly I bought a 08 almost a year ago with 9,000 miles on it for $3,200. It was a great ride until it was totaled by an old man who hit me in the rear in July. The insurance company was a problem with offering me a low price. I got a fair price from them because I did a lot of research and confused them with facts. I was an insurance adjuster for almost 32 years and I knew how to make my case. The average person would have been at a great disadvantage dealing with the insurance company. If you bought either one at their price, you would lose a lot of money if they were totaled or you decided to sell or trade them.

I would look here in the classifieds and on Craigs List. I found one here that was also on Craigs List and another only on Craigs list. I looked at dozens before I found anything I felt was what I wanted at a fair price within a distance I could handle.

Hi. I'm considering buying a used 05 Burgy 400S. It's listed at a dealer for $3500. Is that a fair price?

How many miles and overall condition ? For $3,500 it better be super low miles and pristine as new condition IMO .

I just purchased a super clean '07 400 with passenger backrest wth 3700 miles on it. I paid 3k and that was a little more than I wanted to spend but it looked like it just came off the show room floor and thats the only reason I paid that much. I think the KBB price on it was 3k on it so I dont think I did too bad. This was Out of Orlando FL where the market on all them people are asking 4k and up on almost every model which I think is outrageous

You know, the bike is worth what you will pay for it and what the present owner/dealership will accept for it. Pure cut, plain and simple. I paid too much for my '09 Executive from what I read here. But then again, I personally know the dealer I purchased it at and knew his prices run high. The bike was also without a single blemish of any kind and only had 2000 miles on it. I could have found a Burgman cheaper but I would have had to travel to buy and with my medical issues I would have had to trailer it home. I decided that it was worth the extra money to just have a good bike that I could take home without hassle.

You do have to think about everything to decide how much you are willing to pay...

The convenience and comfort level of buying local is important and worth a lot to many people, especially if they are still working or have health issues. I live in the sticks so local to me is within a hundred miles as there were no Burgmans of any kind within the same area code. I'm retired and don't mind traveling to buy something. I got a good buy on my 09 but it was almost 500 miles away from me (I had to visit a daughter within 50 to 70 miles of it anyway). It's expensive to drive a truck almost 1,000 miles to pick up a scooter and considering other expenses, you can pay a premium for a local buy.

I have a down payment on a 2011 400 ABS with 2400 miles, still under an extended 36 month warranty, one owner (lady learning to ride), meticulous condition, never down, garage kept, just serviced, for $5500.00. They were originally asking $6100.00, but I haggled a bit and got it for $5500.00. I am very pleased with the deal and it's only about 10 miles away from me. When I saw it, I really thought it was a new model. It is just that nice! Not a mark on it anywhere. I went in with the Kelley Blue Book price and they hit me with the NADA price...big difference!

I'm currenty giving consideration to a new 2013 650. They are asking $8000 plus tax, title & license. I intend to see if I can get them to throw in a free extended warrenty & a discount on future parts & service.
I would like to know if that sounds like a good deal or are they going cheaper than that?
