For the 400 the idle is 1400 rpm +/- 100. I have mine set at 1500 as singles want to stall sometimes if you have the idle set too low. A little higher idle is fine as long as everything else is OK. I held on the rear brake as I set the idle speed so it simulates the bike stopped at a light.
