I have that holder. bent the hell out of my variator tool on my sym joyride 200. must be PO tightened the hek out of it. basically the part where the rivet connects the arm that moves. so I think ill check the spacing it needs to hold the parts in place, then weld it in place so it wont flex.
for big sym scooter, this holder wont work. not robust enough. I made a holder out of square tubing. used a torque wrench to tighten once. then used a small file to mark the position. and after that, I only use a riyobi torque wrench to close. bad design on suzuki finned plate. they should have added some holes to hold it in place. very hard to hold that plate.
