Recently did a fork oil change / maintenance, and put together my own oil level tool to measure the oil height inside the fork.

You can buy commercially made ones for $20-40 dollars.

I made mine for under $4.00.

Put together a quick DIY for those that may be interested:

DIY - Fork Oil Level Tool

Will show how it is used once I finish editing and putting together the finishing touches on the fork oil change DIY.
You can use this tool with just about any bike, just have to redo the measurement part for the oil level height.

Nice setup.

I just use a strip of aluminum held in a pair of vice grips to measure the level and I adjust it with the siphon pump I use to bleed brakes. All stuff I already had on hand so I didn't have to buy anything.

Don't know if it's already common knowledge, but I used a similar tool called the Mixmizer (a big syringe + short tube for measuring 2 stroke premix, $5) during a recent transmission/final drive oil changes. The funnel/tube or squeeze bottle/tube method was slow and messy. The big syringe did the trick and faster.

Go LeDude! Can we use this on the scoot, or only when the fork is off for servicing?
