Yes - a very interesting article - I knew I bought the right bike.

I did find it interesting that the MSRP back then was $5,899 and today the MSRP is $7,899. I seem to remember in Economics 101 that the longer you produce a Burgman 400 - they always used wigets but lets call it a Burgman - the lower the unit cost - the bike is basically unchanged since its introduction. Seeing how the CPI from 1/2007 to 1/2013 has only been 13.77% the Burgman 400 has increased about 34% - has the yen been devalued that much or is Suzuki trying to offset its loss for the automobile division?

Due to politicians (of both parties), the actual CPI is far higher than is reported. It is "adjusted" by weighing categories so the actual cost of living is mis-reported. Besides hiding the true inflation rate from the public, it holds down increases in Social Security and many other programs that is calculated using the CPI. Everything I buy for day to day living is up by at least the increase in the Burgman. The cost of my bought and paid for house is down as is the price of electronics (how often do you buy them?).

I remember that article. I was new to the sport of motorcycling and wanted a bike that fit all my needs (perceived and otherwise).

I was not that familiar with Burgman's at the time but after reading that article I became a fan. I really do miss my old 07.

The next bike will be a Burgie. I'm all most sure of that.

The reduced (reported) CPI also increases tax revenues by keeping certain tax brackets & triggers low while incomes increase.

Made the mistake of reading the article. Man, I need a ride on the Burgie. Been winter up here in the Northland since about November I think. Still got 1 and a half feet of snow in the yard and it snowed twice today. Although the really bad stuff missed us after plowing through our neighbors to the south (South Dakota) for the last 3 days. You can tell everybody is tired of winter... gloomy cold cloudy days. Enough already. I need a ride on the Burgie!
Enjoy the ride.

We had two weeks of wonderful weather...into the 70's at times but it's now back to the 30's this week. I'm going to keep riding anyway and take the winter parka back out of the closet. Sure was nice to ride in a t-shirt and at night for a week though. Spring is really here, it's just having trouble making up it's mind...
