I forgot to mention, my Corbin "Close" Model shipped yesterday. It will arrive tomorrow. Hopefully, the wife can help hold it while I install tomorrow night? Hoping for the best. "Theron Blair" at Corbin is a guy I owe for allowing me to swap out my defective seat for the new "close" model. I also have the 1st unit shipped so here's hoping! Mike

Hey Mike,

I thought you were selling your 650. You just going to get the Corbin seat installed and then sell it or have you decided to hang on to the Burgman?

The only "listing" I have done to sell was on this and Yahoo Groups. This seat was paid for months ago so I'll try the seat to see if it makes the ride any more comfortable for me. IF it does, maybe at least I can enjoy riding the scooter UNTIL I sell it? If I could smooth out the harsh ride so it didn't tear at my surgery sites, I'd forget selling it. Also, I really only want another BIG criing/Tourer so I need to go back out and
get another job to pay for all this if I sell the Burgie.

So, If the seat helps, may keep the scoot. If not, will sell the seat by itself as it will be brand new and unmolested. Here's hoping. An old man like me could USE a bike with an automatic and lockable storage after all. THAT'S why I bought it. Just didn't know it would beat me to death too......Mike

Pappy:
I hope the seat does it for you, you got a good ride right now as you well know.
Don't forget "they" say it does take a little break in time
so don't get all disappointed if it's not comfortable right away. 8)

Thanks,

I'm VERY familiar with my Russell Daylong Saddles Firmness and the fact firm is ACTUALLY more comfortable with distance. The Corbin remains to be seen but I am optimistic. Just wish it was as low as stock. The CLOSE Model is STILL a bit over 1" TALLER than stock darnit....Mike

So Mike,

Is the main difference in the "close" model that it positions you further forward on the scoot? I'm sure you'll fill us in when you get it. Sounds like it is at most an inch lower than their other seat.
Correct on all counts. The close is as stock on forward position but 1" taller than stock. The Corbin "Standard Seat" is 2+" taller and a whopping FULL 3" FURTHER BACK than stock. PERFECT for longer legs than my 29" inseam. Even at 6'2" tall, I wouldn't fit that standard Corbin. I was stunned that they listened to me with such enthusiasm! Then, after I pled my case, the "CLOSE" version was created. I really do believe they'll have a market for it considering how many women buy this scooter (sigh).

Gotta go do somethin MANLY now.....

Another thing. If ANYONE has questions or wants info, call:
1.800.538.7053 ext-301

This is right to Theron Blair's Desk at Corbin. He is the most helpful Rep I have ever encountered. Please tell him you heard of him through me too. I got NO DISCOUNTS but I DID get a new seat and a different model made to replace one I didn't like and that had shipping damage. Corbin did NOT have to help me like this and I OWE this man! Would like them to KNOW, the WORLD is "LISTENING"!!!! And I personally thing they need to KNOW that! His e mail address is:

[email protected]

Maybe everyone just send him An E Mail to let him know we were "watching"? If companies KNOW that we as customers DO care about customer service as well as product, we ALL win! Thanks, Mike

I am getting very close to breaking down and ordering a Corbin seat --There seams to be no way I can try one first - I sent an E-mail asking about the "close" seat as you call it, this is the first I have heard of it,
with an inseam of 28 inches it may be just the seat for me,
I have a 400 but even if is raises the height a little it's ok
--the seat on my BMW is 29 + and I hold that up most of the time.
Pappy;
It sounds like you had both seats so I will be looking forward to what you have to say about this "close" seat
One last thought, I know it's cheaper to order from a dealer (azmotorsports) but perhaps it's worth a few bucks more to order from the company just for the service if you need it,
I don't even know if the "close" seat can be ordered from a dealer
Any rate guess I am trolling for thoughts and ideas here

"CLOSE" is the name they assign to any model that does NOT move you back a bunch. You would hate the standard seat as badly as I did with your inseam. If you e mail Theron, or even better, CALL him at the 1.800.538.7053 ext-301, and speak to him. He can answer any specific stuff? I'll know in a couple days my health permitting. Mike
