I just replaced the clutch assembly and bell on my 2008 A400 Burgman with 32,133 miles. Clutch was shot! I do a lot of start/stop type of riding and a lot on dirt/sandy roads. This was a bigger project than I thought. Compressing the spring nearly had me stumped. I used a 3/8 threaded rod, washers and a spacer. The pictures will give an idea how I did it. If you have a strong friend around he could push it down while you get the retaining nut started. I got it compressed but couldn't hold it with one hand.
The fan tool is one I made when I replaced the belt a year ago. The dowels are 3/8 maple driven through a piece of mahogany I had laying around. Pretty tool!
I got the parts from www.partspitstop.com

FWIW Mitch has a video showing him kneeling on the clutch to hold it which worked pretty well for me.
