Hi, all
Well got the 650 Burgman on Thursday, the bike is new to me it's a 2009 covered 5000 miles, unfortunately to say the bike
has only covered 5000 miles it hasn't been looked after, i can see it has been used over a winter not washed properly and
it has salt damage to the aluminum mostly to the back of the engine where the where the arm is and at the front, also
the welds on the frame where the weld is it leaves a little crack and i can see rust forming this is especially on unexposed
areas the exposed areas like wheels etc are not too bad.

I am going to strip the bike naked with the help of Ledude Burgman off Utube, wheels off everything so i can give it a proper clean, what i would like to know is do you guys/girls know a good way of cleaning the aluminum and the frame any tips as to what to use any help would be great. Thanks.

The welds on the frame do rust and any good rust treatment is a good thing to do while it is stripped.
Easy Off Oven cleaner is the best way to deal with the aluminum. Surface clean it first then spray on the oven cleaner. Let it soak 20-30 minutes and scrub with brush or pad and rinse thoroughly. Good luck with the project!
