at some point bikes like the 650 are going to have to stop being referred to as scooters...personally I think anything over 250cc is getting out of "scooter" territory...and as more bikes like these come to market, the vision reference of what we call a scooter needs to change...the 650 is as much bike (maybe more) than a lot of people may ever have ridden...to me its almost a crime to call it a scooter.

I agree with the thread. Why can't we have Sky Waves also or something else that slides smoothly off the tonge. I was ready to find a Silver Wing when I found this site on a scooter search. I previously saw a Burgman recommended to someone on another site and I didn't even google it because of the name. :?

I agree!!!! Why make such a beautiful product and give it such an UGLY name?????
I'm sure there are people out there that, if they hear a cool name, will automatically think it must be a cool bike. After all, how many super-models do you hear about named Medusa???

You should also consider, which associativity the name Burgman in other languages has.

I have no problem with Burgman, but must admit that the "Sky Wave" moniker sounds better to me. It would have been my preference for the U.S. market or perhaps even just AN650 and AN400, as Suzuki is famous for using the alphanumeric designator for the marketing name of many their motorcycles.
