Okay! I've had it. I just went in to the local "Big" Dealer (yamaha, suzu, bmw, kaw, honda,) and there were NO Burgs, or Silverwings on the floor. I asked one of the salesman if they were out of stock and his reply, "uh, no, we've got some I think, they're still boxed up in the back".
With an attitude like that, no wonder we don't see more of these great scoots on the street.
I've had mine for over 10 months, and while there may be some here (Austin Texas, population appx 750,000), I've never seen on on the street besides mine. So. A few friends and I are going to organize a Central Texas Scooter Group. This is a notice for anyone in the area that may be interested in joining in the formation of a group. With all the great Spring/Fall weather here (it's HOT in the summer), we should easily be able to support an annual rally. Something that would reflect and hopefully compliment the Scoot-Tour group. Their rally is in Aug, so I'm thinking Oct / Nov or Apr/May.
Any input from the group?

Apr/May is often wet. It may not be in Central Texas, but it is rainy season in a lot of places. If you are looking for participation from riders in other states, that could deter some folks from attending. Late September or early October might be good. If you get into November, us folks in the more northern states could be dealing with a very cold trip home - even a freak snowstorm. You might start out with a few Texans attending the first year, but you want to try to position it so that folks from other states might consider going.

CenTex Rally

Excellent point!
Those were the "prime times" for this hill country area, but we do have some latitude. As you know, we (Austin) host the ROT rally, but obviously that NOT "scoot" folks. I don't in anyway want to conflict with the Scoot Tour. I really enjoyed myself and just thought, there's not enough, focused, events for me, personally. So... why not expand the awareness by doing something here in central Texas? I think there's plenty of folks that would enjoy an excuse to come to Austin, ride the lake roads (some are a 9.4 out of a 10.0 scale), do a scenic hill country tour, Visit the famous "6th Street", live music capitol of the World, I'm told <G>.
Late July/August is too hot, and like I said, I don't want to detract from Scoot Tours, and in fact, want to go there.
Jan/Feb out for obvious reasons.... for now.... what winter we have, is now
March/Apr pollible, but high rain probablility for those months
May/June.... good, not too hot, not much rain, Lake is warming up
July/Aug... Hot, going on Hotter, and pretty high humidty normally
Sep / oct.... certainly a possiblility
nov/dec .... generally nice weather, NOT Winter yet..... but close.

That works good for this area... weather is cooling down, but in the mid 80's, nights in the 50's.. yeah I know.... IT"s Texas..
Late Sep / early Oct is good.

Too bad it would be too wet to have a central Texas tour in April. For those of you that haven't been to the Hill Country in the spring to see the Blue Bonnets you don't know what you are missing. The whole country is covered in blue and the air is sweet with their fragrance.

It is a popular time to visit though, and cheap motels would be few and far between.

I know they mentioned the time they had the scootercade was during the "OFF" season, and that is why we got such good rates. Maybe October will be Austin's "OFF" season.

Centex Rally

Actually April is a wet month, but except when raining, the weather is GREAT. I supposed that would be a good alternative. Is April a month, weather wise, that would be good enough for neighbors (nearby states) to attend?

Okay, We've fixed a date for the first Centex Scootex rally!
May 13,14,15 of 2005. I've dropped some notices in various places to get locals to organize into a local chapter for occasional gatherings. Anyone in the area, Broadly defined as Central TExas, Austin , San Antonio, Waco, Bryan/College Station, is welcome to, and encouraged to, contact me for preliminary plans.

Centex rally

Get me a registration form or just tell where to go. I've ridden Austin area and roads close to Fredericksburg are awesome! I'll make the drive down from Dallas to see some other scoot riders.

Ride safe, Chris
