Has anyone had success installing a CB antenna on a Burgman 650? I ride with a small group and would like to stay in contact with the lead rider (who has a Suzuki motorcycle). I purchased a Midland Portable CB radio which I attached with velcro to the center of the handlebars. With the tiny antenna that came with it :(the range is not acceptable.

If the antenna on the CB has a BNC connector,
any CB antenna could be connected....but...
on a 650, a more efficient CB antenna will also
increase the noise from your CVT into the radio.

Hey Duster, you stated a more efficient antenna would increase the noise from the CVT into the radio. Isn't the squelch knob there to remove the noise? How do the large Harleys cope with the noise.

Most other bikes handle it very well, but the burgman ECVT has several DC stepper motors in it that produce way more noise then the squelch can handle. An auxiliary antenna that is not grounded to the bike may work, however most who have tried mounting a CB to the Burgman have given up in vain.

You may be able to squelch out the ECVT noise,
but only until the squelch opens on receive...
then you'll hear the noise.
Harleys don't have an ECVT to deal with.
