Hi I just got the ’04 Burg 400 for my wife.

We have not picked up the bike but during the test ride I gently ran it up to 100 KPH, two up, on the flat for a very short bit. Will that speed have been problematical to the break-in? Personally I would not think so, but perhaps there is something in the manual or otherwise that I'm not aware of?

I am going to need a shop manual also if the is any help for a Canadian here.

There is no way “mechanics” are working on my machines unless I have no choice :x

Any thoughts, suggestions, input very welcome indeed:?:

Hi Chumly and welcome to the forum. I don't believe you did any harm whatsoever in running the bike up to 100. In fact I think you probably did it a lot of good. The piston ring seating is probably most effective in those first few hundred kms. It is my belief that loading the rings up for short bursts as you did is beneficial to the ring seating while that cylinder still has the cross hatch honing marks that will act somewhat like a file. I hope your wife enjoys the new 400.
