HI all
I have had my 2008 Burgman little over a week, its a great ride for sure, my other scooter is a Honda Helix and its an awsome scooter as well
The Helix sits so low and horizontal almost and I really love it, it feels a bit on the Burgman like im leaning forward too much,,is there a resonable way to just lower the rear suspension so that it can sit more horizontal and not pitched up forward a bit? would it truly affect the handlng or dynamics of this bike? I feel like if the rear end was a bit lower it would ride or even handle a bit better,,,,Does anyone know if this is a possibility?

Forgive me if this is already posted somewhere, it might help noobs, "The real setting" is visible through the left side "leg shield". It's hard to see, easier to see the "bottom number" and convert to actual setting.

I have seen this video, is it adjusting the height or is it adjusting the stiffness/softness of the suspension? The manual states the latter, that its only adjusting comfort

If lowering the preload does not work for you, as in the shock is too soft for weight and/or handling, modifying your seat may work, my B400 seat was modified by the previous owner and it works great for my wife (is supposed to be her scooter, even though I use it more ), the lady/previous owner said a custom "Harley seat shop" her husband uses, replaced part of the front seat foam with a thinner, but denser type and refitted cover, etc., is kind of flatter than oem, gives a better "rear end" support

Maybe Im just used to the Helix and this seating angle and style is a little different,,,IM 5 10,,,190lbs ,,,The photo you sent looks a liittle lower in the rear than the pic I sent, Im thinking tomorrow Ill try the 1st position on that suspenson setting,,,,

Have you considered bar backs/risers? Perhaps if you were able to not lean quite so far forward it would make you feel as if the bike were leaned a little backwards.

I'm not familiar with doing this to a 400, and I really haven't been paying attention to 400-relevant threads if others have done so, but I added bar backs/risers to both of the 650 Execs that I owned, with a little cable re-routing (and discarding the handlebar covers in one case).

On a side note, I inspected all the fuses and they all look good, I have high beams, turnsignal, brake light and running lights, but no low beams, is this more than likely just a bulb replacement or is there something else I should look at?

I love the riding position myself, you're probably just used to a different bike.

persnlly I prefer vertical seating when riding (the burgman)

As the members say you can't lower it without changing shocks which is not a good idea. You can push yourself further back on the seat as already noted by raising the butt pad which many agree makes a more comfortable ride. You can buy a riser or make your own for a few dollars and a bit of needlework.

Yes I do a little on our AN400 and I also feel it a lot on my Silver Wing too. I've switched to a Corbin seat but that didn't help the "crotch riding up" feeling. As opposed to lowering the rear, I'd prefer to raise the front up.

Can it not be achieved by fitting Dog Bones ? I say this as my brief ownership with a X-ADV 750 had dog bones fitted to lower the bike.
If so I am sure there are a few engineers out there who could machine you up one or a pair ?

However, the "dogbones" (links) are not individual items, but a fabricated assembly (Item 12 below). Could be cut and shut with side plates welded onto the existing links?
Extreme care would be required to maintain alignment of the mounting holes.
The result would mean less clearance between the rear wheel and the trunk base. Not much there as standard, on full bump, so.....

I think the result, if it did improve OP's comfort, will detract from the scoot's handling.

The 400 has a lever system and the steel part (Dog Bone) between the shock and the frame can be made shorter or longer a little. On the Eco-Exo Forum Roger B used a 2008 AN400 and found the shock mount would not raise the back of the trike and it would bottom out on big bumps. So he had a machine shop make one about 1 inch longer. It was a PITA to install but it gave him the extra 1/2 inch raise so not to bottom out.

Pull the 3 pin connector of the back and check it they have been known to melt and cause issues and do the basics check the bulb all you need is 2 lengths of wire and use your bike battery. Negative can be put on the helmet hook as its attached to the frame just need to access the positive and this can be done on the solenoid feed

Being that the high beam is working and its all one bulb, what would cause the low beam not to? Id be suprsed if BOTH bulbs were bad

You got to start somewhere. There are no fortune tellers on here just guessers based on the OP,s description.
