i'm 62 years old and live in the finger lakes region of ny. been on and off bikes since i was 18. picked up my first scooter 4 years ago a 1987 honda spree. i still have it and it has served me well. great for in town errands and been on lots of 7-50 mile jaunts. been thinking of moving up in cc's. recently rode a 250 reflex and though it was a nice bike wanted some more weight and speed. i think i've settled on a burgman but haven't found the right bike or price yet. i got to ride a couple owned by the same guy 2 weeks ago, a 2003 that was clean and a 2007 that had seen a hard life. so just going to be patient and see what pops up. only a few more months here in upstate ny for test rides then the long wait till spring.
just want to say that from what i have see this is a great forum with some of the members going above and beyond with both post responses and video stickey's, just great information. hope i do find a 400 just to be able to continue to hang out here. thanks ...... john .....

I would look for a 2008 or newer 400. They made the change in 2007 but the newer ones have had the few problem issues resolved. My 2008 was excellent before an 84 year old man hit me in the rear and totaled it. I now have a 650 but I miss my 400.

I am 71 years old going on 18....LOL! And have both a 2008 Burgman 400 as well as a 2001 Honda Goldwing GL1800........I love both .but I find myself riding the 400 more often !! WHY.????? D a m n......it is so much fun and easy to tosss around...... and with the price of gas going out of sight - why not get 58 MPG instead of 38 MPG.????

Welcome. I am a graduate of Colgate and my wife, who I dated in college, is a graduate of Keuka so knew your area well in my younger days. I turn 69 in September and am on my third Burgman 650. Looked at lots of other bikes but nothing seems to fit the bill as well as the Burgman. If I add my collective miles on all three I have over 60,000 miles riding Burgmans and no I do not do frequent long trips. Good luck in your search.

John, welcome from an old guy from the Albany NY area.:p
Keep an eye out and you will locate a low milage / maintained Burg . They are out there Got my 07 in may of 09 with under 1300 miles on it.
It gets more road time than the rest of the stable combined.
Once you getr the grin:D its hard to go back.

66 here and just back from an 1800 km jaunt around Ontario and quebec - from slab to twists to a bit of inadvertent dirt.

I ride an ST1100 and KLR650 (forest tracks ) in Australia but would take the Burgman 650 over the ST1100 in a heartbeat.

No experience on the 400 but sounds the ticket for your use.
