"Sushi" (our 400) and I went on our first group ride today, a poker run. Unfortunately, it wasn't well planned by the AMA chapter. When they ran out of crushed lime (as in the stuff you put on lawns), they began to mark the turns with drops of flour (yes, the baking kind). ..which quickly blew away. :x

I'd invited a bunch of women from the Women Who Ride (http://www.ridemyown.com) forum to come along, so I wound up leading them astray within about 3 miles! And, since I was the only one who knew the area, I led the rest of the ride--just picking out some of the lovely back roads we have in these parts. So there I was, on my very first group ride being the group leader. And there Sushi was, on HER first group ride, being Lead Bike to a few H-Ds, a GW trike, a Suzuki Marauder, etc. :D The Burgie handled it beautifully and the gang was happy with the routes I chose. A good time was had by all--and Sushi got some compliments along the way.

Hi Bryna

Sounds like fun and with the Burger in its rightful place!

I have 2 questions for you:

1. SUSHI - what like cold raw fish?

2. Women Who Ride (no sniggering at the back!) - nice website and with some interesting reviews of the various motorcycles - but I did not see one on the Burgman! Are you in the process of crafting it?

Regards

Hi Norman!

<<1. SUSHI - what like cold raw fish?>>

Yup. And nope. Long story semi-short: We have a 5-year-old tortie cat who's part "traditional/applehead" Siamese. (Beauty and brains in one :D ) One of my nicknames for her is Sushi, just because. The cat's name is Maeve Emma (in part after Emma Kirkby, from your side of the pond), and we named the bike "Queen Maeve 2"--hence, the nickname Sushi. We figured it fit too because it's a Japanese bike. Silly but works for us. 8) It's more the sound of the name rather than what it represents.

I suppose I could. I mainly use the forum to chat with folks. But I do include a photo of Sushi and me in my signature, and several women have admired it. (How could they not? )

Cheers,

Thanks, Johnny. I agree on both points! :D And these days, I'm spending so much time with Sushi the Scoot that Sushi the cat may be getting jealous.

P.S. You got a 650, right? How do you find it handles around Jersey?

My 650 handles great in Jersey nightmare traffic full of idiots, and Jersey magical lush forests, and the Sushi bar and everywhere it takes me!

By the way we have four cats and are currently fostering two kittens. My wife works for the NJ Homeless Animal Adoption League. She also rides on the back of the MurderScooter.

Johnny,
Thanks for the info on the 650. I do love our 400 but may consider moving up to the 650 next year. I love its quick-off-the-mark power but may want some more upper-end power for interstates.

^5 to your wife 1) for her commitment to animals and 2) for riding pillion on the "MurderScooter". :D Maeve is one of 5 cats we have (I have 4, one is Lynn's) and all were adopted either through folks who took in strays or through a shelter/Save the Cats/type org. Good luck with the foster babies!
