I got mine 2005 also sitting 1 year. May I suggest you a complete check and all fluid, filters and sparks replacement. Mine got brand new, do your magic and enjoy. It's the top.

Don't forget new coolant, battery and probably new tires too.

But when your done, you'll be set for a good long while. My 2005 sat for many years too, bought it six months ago, but she runs like a top. I've no problems running 700 mile weekends. You will really enjoy the bike and its just in time for summer.

congrats on your new bike, as others have mentioned a routine change of fluids, battery and tire's inspection should get you on the road pretty quick.

Make sure you ride it with all the safety gear on.
