I'm in the middle of a brake job on my 2004 400 and this clip fell out of the rear caliper and I don't know where it goes? I'm referring to the clip on the left, anyone know or can point me to a photo?

Those are the pad springs that help hold tension on the pads so that they stay in alignment. The long one goes into the bottom under the pads. The short one goes at the end of the pads standing up. You can see the wear marks where the pads rub against it in your picture.

I looked through the manual and I don't see a picture that shows how to put it in. It also doesn't show up on the 400 rear caliper fiche for some reason. It does show up on the 650 parts fiche and the two calipers are very similar. Maybe that will help you figure out how it goes in. It's part number 12 on this fiche. http://www.babbittsonline.com/oemparts/a/suz/506b71b6f8700235b876b975/rear-caliper-model-k6-k7-k8

Thanks Buffalo. When you mentioned the 650 calipers being similar I went to youtube and looked up Le Dude's video of 650 front brake pads. He calls it a "caliper holder bracket". So for anyone else that has this fall out before they know where it came from, you can see detail info here in this video at 5:22.

Thanks to Buffalo, LeDude and MicBergsma, I now have new front and rear brake pads, and with the help of my 11 year old daughter at the helm of the brake lever I also bled out the old fluid and have new brake fluid in the system :D
