I got one last fall.. I really like it..Last weekend I did a tad over 100 miles on the super slab.. before the Bearcat backrest.. my shoulders would have been in complete spasm way before I was done.. absolutely no issues.. the only reason I stopped was that I was home..

I've been reading this form for a year now and finally just figure out what "bump" means  ...it just refreshes the thread so it doesn't filter out

Yep and you gave it a bump just like I am doing now.

I bought my BearCat backrest for my 03 long ago. I put it on my first 08 and rode it till I crashed it. I then put it on my latest 08 and am at 36,000 miles. I am glad Bearcat did not put a warranty on them as it would have expired years ago. :D Bet he did not think it would transfer to so many bikes or have so many miles on them. And I paid $65 including FAST shipping. Did I say FAST Shipping? :p

Doesn't need a bump...but I'll put my two cents in.

For a tall rider, Bearcat backrests are THE way to go! My 650 had a Utopia backrest on it...it felt good but...cramped. And the more I rode, the more cramped it felt.

Making the change made ALL the difference!

Question: Is the same backrest interchangeable between 650 and 400 models? I'm debating downsizing...

The answer is NO they are NOT interchangeable. The distance between the holes in the seat is lesser on the 400's. He does bend them for the 400 tho.

Brad, you know you are not making any more money off me? I bought your back rest for my 2003, then put it on my 1st 2008, and now its on my 2nd 2008. You need to make a royalty clause like the record company's did that you get royalty's for the resale or reuse.

Anyway BUMP.

Got my backrest from Bearcat a couple days ago, Works good. Seat is a bit far back for my taste with it on and sometimes I can feel the bars at the bottom of it pressing on my lower back. Bought a $10 back pad to go with it and now it feels like a nice comfy couch.

Overall I will give it a B+ and bang for the buck I will give it an A....shipping was superfast also, He doesn't mess around :)

Thanks Bearcat!

Is there a way to defeat the spring loaded thing under the seat so I can put the backrest on without having to raise the seat? I would like to be able to put my backrest on the bike while my wife is on the back seat. She can't climb onto the bike with the backrest in place.

Anyone have the link for Bear Cat back rests?

I'm 6'5" with 36 inseams so I'm looking for more leg room on my 650 Exec.
I bought mine used from another member here but...

Take a look back at the first post in this thread. Bearcat here on BUSA is the guy who makes them. He says to give him a PM here or email him at
