Off to France this morning with SWMBO for a long weekend visiting the Somme.

It is worthwhile trip to take. The Somme is no doubt a battlefield worthy of great respect for the lives lost. It is a reminder to us all that the cost of freedom is often measured in paying the ultimate sacrifice. In this case over a million men laid down their lives in this 5 month long battle.
My hat is off to you for making the trip to pay your respects. And for what is is worth, you chose a very worthy "Steed" on which to make this ride.

Looking forward to the report. I am doing a one week tour of the Somme in July, not a group tour though.

My grandfather fought in WWI and told us stories about talking with the Brits who fought at the Somme.
