I know that when replacing the battery on a new (post 1995) car that it is imperative that the power be maintained to the computer in order to avoid a $400 to $600 expense to reprogram it. Is it necessary to maintain power to the bike (via the accessory plug) when disconnecting the battery on the 650???

Never heard that one and I've worked at car dealers since 1984. I mean yah you gotta reset the radio presets and set customer settings but the end user can do that.
