Scooter Touring Book

New book out by BJ Strauss on scooter touring in the USA. BJ published Scooter Rider Magazine for several years. The magazine was absolutely great and brought tears to my eyes when it was sold. Here is a link to the new book. BJ reports that he has at least two more books coming out later this year!

Hello. My name is BJ. I am back on the forum after a hiatus. I have a Xciting 500RI, Burgman 400 and am the former editor of Scooter Rider Magazine. i will be looking for suspension tips for our well used Burgman as well as posting various tips I have come across.

I have published my first book on scooter touring trips. Scooters that are featured are Kymco, Suzuki and Vespa. The trips cover Florida to Maine & Back, California to Florida, CA Hwy-49, and the Natchez Trace Parkway. The word count is about 24,000 and there are over 50 color photos. If anyone is interested in the ebook, Amazon handles worldwide distribution via the Kindle Store here: http://www.amazon.com/SCOOTER-TOURI...id=1357679764&sr=1-1&keywords=scooter+touring

The ebook can be read on Kindles as well as most computers, Android and Apple devices via the free Kindle App.

I am already working on my next two scooter-related books; a how-to guide on scooter touring and a book on tech how-to related to scooters. I expect these to be released later 2013.

Thanks. Feel free to help me get the word out. The more I sell, the more I can write.

Thanks for all the welcomes and good responses. I do truly appreciate it.

As a side note, I am considering starting a meetup for a rocky mountain based rolling maxi-scooter rally. Meet at one base for the evening/overnight, next day ride to another great spot for an overbite, next day the same and end at the start point. As an example: Day 1 - Buena Vista, CO. Day 2 - Durango CO. Day 3 - Moab, UT. Day 4 - Buena Vista, CO. These are examples. i live in the Boulder are and know the riding pretty well. Probably late June - early August as a time frame. If anyone is interested..................

Woowoo! I'm in Grand Junction and that sounds like a great idea. You might also consider this area, which features the Grand Mesa and the Colorado National Monument for rides. I'll have to check on what dates I could make it. Our local scooter club has a few members with larger scoots, including a couple of Burgmans besides mine. I'll pass the word.

Sounds like we got the makin's of an event! I'll put together a post for events and also post to other forums. There is a maxi-scoot yahoo group out of the Denver area too. Good suggestions. I am also thinking of possible rides to mt evens or pikes peak, monument valley, steamboat springs, rocky mt natl park, hell there are so many freakin awesome places to ride around here. I'm thinking 4 days, 3nights.

Are you willing to help piece this together? There would be no 'official' event, more of a meetup and ride. However, overnight group discounts and restaurants and such can be arranged.

Just bought it via Amazon Kindle site. A great $4.99 investment. Look forward to reading through it. Look forward to the other two books!

I think I'd like to, as long as we make sure it happens at a time I can make it! I don't remember when I've signed up for vacation (we have to do so at the beginning of the year). In any event, let's continue this by PM/email until there's something solid to put out.

I'm about halfway through, and am currently reading a story of a trip from California to Florida on a 400!

I got the book via Kindle

Already over half done with it

If we support this maybe more ride reports to come
Thanks for all the positive messages on my book. This is important as I have to make money for this to be worthwhile. As you might imagine, this maxi-scooter / scooter touring market is small (my upcoming book on high power wifi for Macintosh will have a much larger market). The more sales the scooter book generates, the more I will be able to publish in this genre. Also this encourages others to write and get into the market, hopefully benefitting readers and writers alike. So, please, if you enjoyed the book give it a good review on Amazon and help get the info out to as many riders, blogs, forums, etc.
