Well I knew it was coming but such is life. I was just informed in a private message that people are having problems with my choice of avatar. Isn't that interesting. Never mind the humorous & interesting posts I've made, never mind the support 4 this forum & I have only been a member for 2 weeks, never mind that I am a nice person who likes 2 have fun. All that matters is total strangers who can somehow get offended by a picture of another stranger who is fully clothed. Sounds like self-esteem problems 2 me. Wow, I feel like Janet Jackson :?
That is y we have so many problems in this country with each other as human beings. Absolutely incredible.

I love yor forum & hopefully u will judge my participation in this forum since I joined & not a picture which can hurt no one. I was told I don't have 2 change it & I appreciate the respect I got from the person who sent me the message. Why don't the ones who are bothered by it explain in a logical way why this would bother u? Try it. Don't be anonymous, speak up 4 yor views on this issue.

AND SO THE NEW SAGA CONTINUES.........

I liked your old avatar that had you with your bike. It was relevent to this forum.

I'm not sure what this one is. Is that you? Is that your significant other? Does it hold some special significance that you want to share with others?

Would this thread be better suited to the Tavern?

I'll explain
I see nothing wrong with the avatar and I think that anyone who does has a problem of thier own. And I think that all who agree with me should speak out and support you.
That's my explanation, carry on.

Your affinity for using ALL CAPITOL LETTERS in you thread titles and actually in some of your threads bothers me more than your distasteful avatar.

But hey - it's a free world.

I see no problems with your avatar. I'd be interested in knowing why you chose it for the Burgman forum. Since you're inviting feedback I'll go ahead and tell you that I don't read many of your posts because all the "u got 2 be 4 me" kind of language reminds me of my daughter text messaging people on her cell phone and the MTV generation. It like gets on my nerves u no?

I agree with that.

I find the avatar distasteful and unnecessary for a scooter forum.

Finally - it seems many of your posts are made just to get attention to yourself.

I'd have to agree with the above comments. I'd prefer to see your avatar with your legs wrapped around your Burgman and am somewhat surprised why you haven;t changed it to your new scooter but that's your business. As for being funny, I thought your Pat avatar was funnier.
And I also agree with Paul that your abbreviations make me want to skip your posts and to Doc that it seems like you are looking for attention.
You mention how you supported the forums. Was that in helping others or a monetary contribution to Green Goose to pay for the bandwidth used on the forums? Either way it's a good thing to support these forums that help so many others! :D
I hope you figure out your "SAGAS" and ride safe! :)

Ok, at least the comments seem to be mature & fair with the exception of judging me on trying to get attention. I don't need attention like that. My style is just different, simple as that.

Let me address some comments:

I am 42 years old and not a youngster trying to be hip with the type style.
As far as trying to get attention, not. I use shorthanded text just as a quick way to respond. I actually usually type in all caps all the time as a preference because some people don't care & I can actually read all caps better. I have modified my preference because in most forums like this, people scream and holler about the shouting issue so to keep from getting kicked off, I bowed down to the so-called internet rules, which in my opinion is ridiculous but oh well.

As far as the avatar, it was really a temporary one becuz all u guys thought I was a guy and so I did it as a humorous & innocent thing really, just as I did with the "Pat" avatar. Yes I am planning to change it and post with me on the burgman, I just had not done it because I had not decided to keep the bike yet. Sorry I was not moving fast enough for you. Didn't know I had to hurry.

Lastly, thank you Red Eagle for commenting with the most realistic point of view of all:

"<quote>I'll explain
I see nothing wrong with the avatar and I think that anyone who does, has a problem of thier own. And I think that all who agree with me should speak out and support you.
That's my explanation, carry on. <end quote>"

Me & my Burgman pic coming soon, unless I get locked up for indecency by some of the members here.

If you knew it was coming then that leads me to believe that you put up your avatar with full knowledge of the "saga" it would cause. Personally, I do not like it. I have tried to read your posts but a person sitting spread eagle is not something I want to see so I usually just scroll past the post. Granted there are clothes on but it is the overall "sexual" meaning of the picture is still there. And since I am a woman yes, it would still bother me even if it was a picture of a man sitting in such a way too.

I was given pause upon first viewing your avatar, but being inclined to offer folks the benefit of the doubt, I dismissed the idea that you were trying to be provocative. Instead, I associated the pose with the many earth mother figurines I have seen represented in different cultures around the world.

The Homeric Hymns 'xxx' said:
I will sing of well-founded Earth, mother of all, eldest of all beings. She feeds all creatures that are in the world, all that go upon the goodly land, and all that are in the paths of the seas, and all that fly: all these are fed of her store.
Your comment that, “Well I knew it was coming...“ causes me to reassess your motive.

In the stream, you are free to be the water or the rock.

Did you all read anything I said at all??? How about the positive things I mentioned? Did any of that matter? Ok guess not.

When I said I knew it was coming, I was referring to a previous comment made on another post after I put the new avatar up. I said then that more comments might be coming but I hoped it wouldn't be a big deal. I don't know why I am even commenting now because somebody will twist what I say but nevertheless, I am responding. I guess expecting a Birthday wish might be a bit much, huh? lol. I turned 42 yesterday and still having fun!

Have a good day folks. Have some fun in life. It might do you good.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Where are you from anyway? You do not include a state or country where you are from. Good luck with whatever decision you make regarding keeping or returning your 650!

Awww thank u Selias, really!

I respect your viewpoint, although not accurate as to my state of mind about my motives, but nevertheless, you posted it fairly.

I didn't realize I had not listed my location in my profile. It's done now. Hopefully putting the city name in caps won't bother people but who knows, lol. OOps there goes me trying to cause controversy again. Shame, shame shame on me, lol

What are you all gonna do with me??? Probably ignore my posts, huh? LOL. Hope not. I plan on being here & helping & sharing info.

Thanks again Selias

LIGHTSKIN523,
I would also like to wish you a happy birthday!!! :D I personally don't see what all the fuss is about. Your avatar doesn't offend me at all. But I guess is does bother others. Either way, I know you aren't trying to offend anyone. Hope you do get some pics of your Burger on here soon, I would love to see it. Cheers!!!! JD

Happy Birthday. I am 42 as well.

To your credit, you have jumped into the forum with both feet. I would like to be able to read more of your posts.

Please don't take my comments as a personal afront. I am horrible on the keyboard and wish I could be more efficient without putting folks off. If I were the only one that had trouble digesting the abbreviated style, then screw me, but as you can see there are others who find it burdensome to navigate their way through your posts. You may find your contributions are valued more when you "speak the language of the natives."

Again your avatar is fine with me. Not pornographic or offensive in any way. I was truly curious as to why you chose it. Is that you?

You stated "I knew it was coming but such is life." Let me perhaps pass on something that might help you to understand.

You know, when I met my wife, before we were married, she was just graduated out of a liberal arts college. She was pretty liberal in those days. We went to a racetrack that was in the middle of "Catholic" country. Before the national anthem, they always do an invocation and she was totally 100% against religion in this setting. She was not going to stand. I yanked her up by her shirt and she stood, but she was mad as hell.

Now while she was in college, I was in the Navy defending this nation so I saw things a bit differently. She started in on me about how she has freedom of speach and she has this or that and I interupted. I told her there is a time and a place for everything and you really need to learn to respect others beliefs, even if they are not yours.

Now I will tell you this same thing.

You knew there was going to be a reaction. You were counting on it. Knowing that, you had a choice and you made the choice to your avatar anyway. This is not a political forum and it isn't a place to try to stir up stuff like this. If you knew it was going to start a rant, why even start it? Why not a nice, tasteful picture?

You know, you could have asked everyone about the idea of a "spread eagle" avatar prior to posting out of respect for all members, but you chose not to. You knew you were going to offend someone, you were going to make someone take offense, and yet to did it anyway.

Should you be able to? Probably. Did it offend everyone? Not really. Personally, I prefer those sorts of pictures without clothing, but to each their own.

You wanted a reaction. My fair lady, you got it!!

:):)

I was curious when you changed your avatar, but not offended. Just wondered whether it's a "real" pic or just a "fun" one (like the Pat one).

Today my ex-husband turns 39. Your posts remind me of the way he communicates. He is very free-spirited & independent-thinking.

As a writer & editor in a former life (w/a degree in communications), I can tell by your posts that you're no dummy.

If you haven't read the Myers-Briggs thread & you like taking personality "tests," you might want to check it out. :)

Hope you had a great birthday & enjoy riding your scoot.

Susan

For the recent comments, thank you. At least your point of views are mature & courteous & not so assuming.

Paul, JD, Gulf Coast Gurl,

Thank you for the support. Anyone who is a fair-minded person can see my intentions are harmless & meaningless. And yes, that is me in the avatar & that was me on the bicycle. And Paul I have not been using the shorthand methods just because I do want people to read my posts without struggling. That made sense to me. The avatar issue doesn't.

Bechtoea, what u fail to see in my posts is that I don't & never will understand how you can offend someone who doesn't know you by doing harmless things like this. I will never conform to petty sensitivities when there is so much more in the world to stress & be offended over. Yes I know I live in a world with people who have such low self-esteem they let things like this & racism & same sex couples upset them. My question will always be:

"How does any of this affect your life in a bad way and why?"

If you can answer that for the masses with some logic & common sense, I will re-think my position. If not, my case is closed. But no matter what you think of my intentions or actions, I appreciate you taking the time to address it in a very respectful way.
