Fun story:
in 2011 the CERN conducted an experiment named Cngs (Cern Neutrino to Gran Sasso) which was basically firing neutrinos from the CERN to a laboratory in Gran Sasso (that was when they mistakenly claimed that the neutrinos surpassed light speed).

Our at-time Minister of Culture, MariaStella Gelmini, then said that Italy contributed with 45 Millions Euros to the tunnel that links the two sites. Obviously there's not a 740km long tunnel! (neutrinos travels unaffected by mass, so they don't need a tunnel from CERN to Gran Sasso).
This gaffe was promptly taken by every comedian, blogger, average-joe and caused her communication manager immediatly fired.

Fast forward 7 years, in a geography book for middle-school (11 to 13 years students) there was this tunnel mentioned again :D

One of my favourite illustrations of how things are’t the way we think they are -
Dzhanibekov effect.

Dzhanibekov was a Russian cosmonaut - he spun a wing nut off a space station container and it did something very weird, instead of just spinning where it was, it kept flipping over 180 deg. :)

This is the tennis racket effect being directly observed due to weightlessness (it isn’t zero gravity on the space station, only a weightless environment)
