I woke up this morning with the idea of riding 43 miles to a Swap Meet and Bike Show in Wilson, NC. Normally I would take the back roads to Wilson but today I decided to ride down US 264 which is 70mph speed limit all the way. I was riding into a 6 mph head wind, but I was able to maintain 60-70 mph all the way there. When I arrived at the Swap Meet, I found that it was 90% Harleys and 10% everything else. I was the only scooter there. The fun thing was that I met two of the guys I took the MSF Basic Course with. They acted like we were lifelong friends. They enjoyed finally seeing the scooter that I spent the whole weekend talking about. I decided not spend $10 on the Harley show and wet tee shirt contest. I stopped by the CycleMAX store and drooled on the 2005 Black SilverWing. It didn't feel like it was any bigger then my Burgie. The sales guy actually came out and admired my Blue Scoot. I decided to take the back roads home and there was this truck that was tailgating me for about 10 miles. He would not pass me no matter how slow or fast I went. I decided to leave him in the dust. I cranked up to 75 mph and left him like he was standing still. The speed limit was 55, I think. I came on the State Trooper so fast I didn't get a chance to slow down. I looked him in the eye and he looked right back at me. We must of both been in shock. By the time I could start to slow down, he was a dot in my rearview. He probably didn't believe his eyes and decided not to turn around and catch me. Everybody slowed down, even the tailgating pickup truck. The rest of the ride was uneventful...
